Gaming Rant ... #2

In as little as a week, I have again been annoyed by gamers...big surprise. It starts with my scores actually. I don't want to brag or anything but I just can't understand how I finish with a Gold Star almost everytime I play now, even though it seems like my teammates are all tools, but the other team is still powning me. This last week I have landed about 10 Gold Stars in about 15 rounds. In the other 5 rounds I either didn't play the whole round or grabbed a bronze or silver. What bothers me about that is I feel like I get smoked by other players sooooo much. I mean, I have had a 2:1 k/d ratio lately, but I still feel like I get killed way too easily. I realize I am aggresive and take way too many risks, but I get killed with 2-3 shots no matter what the weapon, and yet I am outscoring these people every game. So what gives?

Weirdest of all, my Clan members seem to have the same troubles as me for getting killed, only they don't seem to get the kills along with the deaths like I do. So what am I doing, I ask myself this. I don't cheat, yet I still take top scorers marks a lot. Other players most likely aren't cheating, yet they kill me quickly and easily, but then don't outscore me. I think about it, and most of my kills seem to come from outsmarting the other team. I sneak around, shoot people in the back (mind you I use the Voss right now because I am going for the Assault Service badge), and it takes me a good 6-10 rounds to kill a guy. Shooting them from point blank range in the back of the head or in the spine! It should take 2 shots! Now, I understand that this game isn't like DoD where it can literally take only 1 shot to kill you, but that doesn't mean I should have to shoot someone a bazzillion times in the back to kill them.

Actually, I am fairly happy with the way the game goes. The gameplay really isn't bad if you are smart and learn from your mistakes. Oh yeah, and it is relatively simple if you stick with your teammates, especially your squad. Which brings me to my biggest annoyance of this last week. First of all, hardly anyone will join a squad, even if invited. Then on top of that, if they do manage to get into a squad, they don't stick together or follow orders! Last night this really was emphasized for me. I had 6 guys in my squad and we were sticking together very well. We were taking flags (conquest mode) and dispatching opposing forces quickly and easily. If one of us went down, we would kill the guy who was attacking and revive the shot squad member. What I can't understand is at one point my squad disappeared. Actually, the were just spread over the entire map. And it was at that point my deaths started increasing by a bit because I had no one with me to watch my back or revive me if I got shot. It was also at that point that our team started losing. We got down to only 2 flags and it stayed that way for a lot of match until my squad regrouped. The thing is, at least in conquest, you have to stick together to succeed at the highest level. In order to beat a crappy team, you can run around on your own like a maniac, but to beat an admirable or dominant opponent, you have to stick together and pay attention.

Now, this is just a video game and ultimately, it doesn't matter if we win or lose, if I have great stats or terrible stats, but all of those things factor into whether you are having fun or not, and that is why you play the game. That is why I would think you would want to stick together and win. Actually, as far as winning goes, in BF 2142, it doesn't really matter at all. Mostly I am always hoping to have good stats, and not as worried about winning a round or losing it. One other reason I have for sticking together in a squad is it will help you learn. I played loan wolf for the majority of my first month in this game and it cost me. My k/d ratio was around .60, which is terrible. I was wasting time as far as awards go and I wasn't helping anyone else really either. I know that in my brother's case, it helps him immensly when we all stick together. That way he isn't always getting blind-side killed. Especially when he is playing with me or the English guy, cuz we both seem to manage not to get killed when he does and then we can revive him. Not sure how it always happens but it does.

So play BF 2142, it is an awesome game, and play with a squad or join a clan (hey join my clan if you are looking). We need good players out there, so join up and dominate!!!
